The Junior school caters to a broad range of dance genres for 5-8 year olds. These are designed with each students developmental stage in mind, catering to their specific needs and engaging appropriate neural pathways. Regardless of genre the classes are highly interactive, utilising props and other cues to stimulate intrigue and creativity.

This is flipping good fun that can be had with the body. Establishes a balance of technique, vocabulary and choreography for every passionate dancer. Strength and co-ordination is gained as the foundation of Acrobatics is established in a constructed class.

NZAMD Tap Pre Grade (7)
Tap is a great dance form to learn. It combines a love of dance, music and performance. Tap dancing is a discipline that teaches the dancer about choreography, improvisation and syncopation. While it may sound complicated, it really isn’t, tap just requires practice to gain the skill to master it.

Engaging in tap dancing also develops a great sense of rhythm and timing. Our tap teachers help students focus on their musical awareness while incorporating tap steps and combinations preparing them for accomplishing their formal examinations.

Hip-hop dance is vibrant and combines a variety of freestyle movements to create a culturally relevant piece of art. Through its three main styles of popping, locking, and breaking, hip-hop dance has evolved into one of the most popular and influential styles of dance. It creates a wonderful contrast to ballet.
